Overview · Windows plugin for 3ds Max

AI search for the assets already on your computer.

AssetLoot is a Windows plugin for 3ds Max. It indexes the preview images and texture files in the folders you select and lets you retrieve from them by description or by reference image — without changing a single file.

What it reads

Previews and textures, not geometry.

AssetLoot indexes the preview images shipped with your models — .jpg, .png and supported .pdf preview sheets — together with your texture files. It does not analyse the actual 3D geometry inside your scene files.

Where it runs

Local-first on your workstation.

Asset indexing and search are performed locally. An internet connection may still be required for installation, licensing or software updates. You can select local folders, external drives and mapped network directories; indexing time and performance depend on the size of the selected library, storage speed and workstation hardware.

What it changes

Nothing.

AssetLoot does not move, rename or reorganize the source library, and it does not ask you to adopt a folder convention. Results can be previewed before you open or merge them.

Why it exists

The asset usually already exists.

AssetLoot grew from a problem we encounter in production every day: the model or texture we need often already exists somewhere in the library, but finding it interrupts the creative process. Created by CGI and architectural-visualization professionals with over 15 years of production experience.
